Its streamlined silhouette and joyful color palette—each one is painted on our factory’s fourth floor—lend itself well to an array of interiors. Each fixture is paired with a glass diffuser to gently filter light while a custom lever makes changing out the lightbulbs easy and effortless.

    Before a Benchmade light can illuminate your home, each piece is meticulously designed and constructed in our Portland, Oregon, factory. Our manufacturing team prepares each fixture by scuffing, sandblasting, or buffing the metal parts before giving them a wash of lacquer, powder coating, or paint in one of our exclusive colors. Finally, each light is assembled by hand and tested for quality before being carefully packaged and delivered to your door.

    Finishing touch
    I waited for years before purchasing the right pendant for my dining area. When I seen the Ray Pendant in white, my search was over. It fits just right with my mid-century dining table and the quality is great.

    Easy install, looks great.
    I got 2 of these in black for above my kitchen island. Quality seems very high and love the look. Using them with a hue bulbs produces a particularly dramatic effect. My electrician had an easy time with the installation. My only complaint is that the gap between the metal hood and the glass bulb cover is on the tight side if you have larger hands so changing the bulb can be a bit of a pain when its on.

    Bad quality
    Here’s a suggestion for your comment: The light has a beautiful design, which I truly appreciate, but unfortunately, the quality is very disappointing. During installation, the paint was peeling off, and the glass globe is of very poor quality. While I’d give several stars for the design, the overall quality only deserves one star. I cannot recommend this product based on my experience.

    Defective fixtures. ZERO customer service
    Purchased two light fixtures and both are defective. Stem assembly is significantly crooked and canopy is dimpled on both fixtures. Emailed CS with photos and have only received generic "we'll get back to you in 2-3 business days" response - it's been 12 days! Phone calls go to voicemail.

    Rod was a little short
    Rod was a little short but the color and quality was beautiful . I hope I pass before I need to change the light bulbs! Even the electrician was challenged.

    Ray 17” Pendant - shell white
    The Ray is hanging above the staircase at our cabin replacing an unnecessary fan. The size and brightness are perfect for the location. I like the understatement of shell white. The rounded lines are easy and match the feeling of the cabin. #schoolhouserulz

    Gorgeous in my kitchen!
    We ordered this in white for my kitchen and it looks amazing. Had to rotate it around a bit to get it to hand straight, but we eventually found that sweet spot.

    Perfect Island Lights
    We recently updated our kitchen and ordered 3 of the Ray8” pendants for over the island and 1 Ray6” pendant for the kitchen window. They are perfect. They add so much character the the kitchen. Schoolhouse was a great company to work with. I was a little hesitant at first because they would have to be shipped across the country. I worried for nothing. They were shipped on time and arrived in perfect condition.
