Egg Press is one of our longest and closest collaborators here at Schoolhouse, both figuratively and literally. Their printing shop is nestled happily on the 3rd floor of our headquarteres in Portland, OR and they're quite possibly the best tenants ever (we're never short on last-minute birthday cards here that's for sure!). One of the early pioneers responsible for the resurgence of letterpress printing, Egg Press has been doing their own thing since 1999 and we're always up for creating something special with them. Known for their hand-drawn illustrations, sense of humor and all-over textile patterns, we worked together last year to create a set of screen-printed linen hand towels featuring a cheery and bright fowl-focused pattern: The Flock Kitchen Towel.
Perfect for livening up your kitchen and designed in two equally charming colorways, our Flock Kitchen Towels are screen-printed by hand by the talented artists at Egg Press. Made in small batches, each swathe of textile is given special treatment down to the smallest detail. You can see the careful attention and love that goes in to each final piece. We snapped a few shots of their screen-printing process below in their studio. As you can see, it's messy work that yields a stunning, one-of-a-kind result.
