Inspired by Japanese cross-back aprons, the Promenade Cross-Back Apron wraps the body in lightness while allowing ample freedom of movement. Promenade fabric sets raised black stripes against a denim blue background. Roomy pockets are sewn with the stripe pattern set perpendicular to the whole for added contrast. ace&jig is a labor of love for founders Cary Vaughan and Jenna Wilson, who met as design interns and bonded over a shared passion for antique textiles. While the company is based in Brooklyn, New York and Portland, Oregon, it’s India that provides a source for the stunning creations they produce. Using a vast collection of heirloom textiles for inspiration, Cary and Jenna work with traditional weavers (90% of whom are women) working on wooden handlooms to create unique patterns. Fabrics are made from 100% cotton sourced local to the weavers and yarn-dyed with skin-safe, azo-free dyes. The stripe provides one of their foundational woven motifs, and it’s used to create patterns with a singular richness and texture. The enduring craftsmanship and timeless design of their textiles made this one our most exciting collaborations to date.
