Bring some plants, take some home: It’s an old-school plant swap on our Factory Dock, sponsored by Plant Lust.
We here at Schoolhouse love gardening. We are spoiled with our temperate Northwest climate, where so many plants thrive. We routinely ignore plant spacing recommendations, which results in unruly plant beds bursting from overgrowth this time of year. Fall is the perfect time to tame crowded gardens by moving plants around, dividing and filling in spots that didn't shine this past summer, and Schoolhouse is proud to host the first-ever Plant Lust plant swap on our factory loading dock, Saturday, October 20.
Bring plant divisions, extras, or ones you’ve just gotten tired of, and swap them for something new. Bulbs and seeds are welcome, too. The only rule is that the plants must be in a container and labeled by name. Bonus points if you can provide any information on preferred growing conditions. Plant Lust ladies will be on hand to answer questions and share more information about their website and its search functions. (In the meantime, visit the site here if you're trying to source a plant that's been elusive.)
Plant Lust is a Portland-based Internet company that aims to help both new and experienced gardeners learn about plants and where to find them. Launched in 2010, the company has about 18,000 plants so far in a searchable database, with 43 nurseries contributing information.
