Modern and minimal but imbued with playful spirit, this bedroom/nursery nook remodel by interior designer Sarah Sherman Samuel shows the transformative power of thoughtful living combined with beautiful design. The space below belongs to photographer Max Wagner & his wife Margaux, who were expecting baby #2 and found themselves a little short on square footage in their sweet two bedroom home. The plan was to create a warm and welcoming yet still adult-friendly nursery nook within their main bedroom, effectively creating a double-duty opportunity to overhaul the entire room.
A neutral color palette set the tone for a calming, daydream-infused space that would welcome the addition of pockets of whimsy. A fantastical, black and white illustrated wallpaper print transforms a simple closet into a perfect nesting spot for a sleeping babe. Soft textured storage baskets, clean white furniture and natural wood accents work in tandem to promote a feeling of harmony.
Of course, one of our favorite features from the remodel was the addition of our Schoolhouse Envoy Swing Plug-In Sconce on either side of the bed. Clean, mid-century modern lines offers an elevated take on a utilitarian-style fixture. The solid natural brass cylindrical shade and adjustable arm provides a warm glow that delivers light where it's needed most. The plug-in option makes it easy to install anywhere, adding a sophisticated touch to any room.
