Recap: Food with Friends Launch Party

Category: All Category: Events

We're not normally one to declare what's "in" or not, or really even claim to know what's trending in the slightest, but we're going to make an exception here and state a fact: Tea is cool. Tea is the new And so, when our friend Leela Cyd was in town to celebrate the launch of her very first cookbook Food with Friends: The Art of Simple Gatherings, our first thought was "Let's tea it up!". Our second thought was "but also, have a cocktail."

We hosted the launch party for Food with Friends at our Portland store and quite frankly, had the best time. Along with incredible food and drinks by Kachka, Portland's very own purveyors of kitchsy Russian fare, we had a build-your-own-tea-blend bar inspired by a recipe in Leela's book. Guests had the opportunity to fill a weck jar with an array of different blends, leaves and aromatics while sipping on a sparkling cocktail (the best of both worlds, in our opinion). Dramatic and incredibly beautiful floral garlands and arrangements by Hilary Horvath of Alder & Co. set the stage. After a lot of mingling and a special Q&A with Leela, everyone went home with a signed copy of Food with Friends plus a nice stash of tea for later. See some snaps from the evening below!

Thanks to all who came out for this event! We hope you had as much fun as we did. Shout-out to Leela Cyd for always being such a delight. Here's to making time for food with friends (and family) all summer long.
