Describe your aesthetic when it comes to decorating. What styles are you drawn to personally?
"My aesthetic is bright, clean, and collected. I’m personally drawn to a mix of styles put together in a thoughtful way – I like things to feel beautiful, but approachable."
Where do you find most of your inspiration?
"I love Pinterest as much as the next person, but I find that getting outside is the best place for inspiration. Something about getting outside and clearing my head makes going back to the design boards so much easier."
What are some of your go-to basics when it comes to decorating a space?
"I love neutral linen fabrics for upholstery. I also love a brass accent (big or small!)."
Tell us a little about your process when it comes to designing a space for clients.
"We have quite the team at Studio McGee and I love our collaborative process with each other and our clients. We start by having our clients send us Pinterest boards and having a meeting with them to discuss their wants and needs. Our design philosophy is to take our clients’ personal style and pair it with our vision. We like to find one piece that I fall in love with and use that as the jumping off point. We pull lots of samples and options together and keep working through things until it just 'feels' right."
What are a few of your favorite projects you’ve done?
What’s your dream design project?
"To design and build my own home! One day!"
Beloved design trends or timeless looks that you love?
"I love that green is cool again. It has always been my favorite color and I’m so happy it’s popular right now!"
Favorite color palette or materials to work with?
"I love white, natural wood tones and fresh greenery. And a little bit of blue goes a long way!"
Least favorite design trends?
"Honestly, I don’t really have a least favorite design trend! I like when people just do their own thing because it’s what they love not because it’s what they think is cool at the moment!"
What’s your top design trick to share?
"Mix your metals! It keeps things from feeling sterile and too contrived."
Finally, what makes a house a home to you?
"A house feels like a home when it feels a little broken in with personal items, photos, and meaningful artwork."
